DBR partnered with VLK Architects to provide MEP engineering and technology design for the new Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Science Wing at Pecos High School, in the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD.
This two-story, 66,000-square-foot addition supports 14 specialized technical pathways, including esports, multimedia, and health sciences. A standout feature is the health science lab, developed in collaboration with Reeves County Hospital, which replicates a hospital setting to provide students with hands-on learning experiences.

Designed for efficiency, safety, and long-term performance, the facility incorporates natural daylighting, secure access points, and durable materials. High ventilation rates are required for the laboratory spaces in the new facility. Packaged Rooftop Units with Energy Recovery Ventilators were used to capture energy from exhaust generated within the building, supporting the district’s sustainability goals.

To support the advanced technical programs and special equipment, the building is equipped with a 2000 Amp, 480/277 V, 3-phase, 4-wire electrical service. Additionally, the CTE campus was strategically designed as a central hub for IT infrastructure distribution across the high school site, serving as the primary launch point for future campus-wide renovations.

As Phase One of the Pecos High School Master Plan, this project sets the foundation for upcoming developments including a new field house, academic wing, natatorium, and a competition gym—all funded by the 2021 bond election.
