Are you excited about LEED V4.1 and how it will impact your project?
USGBC Texas and DBR have teamed together for a fun lunch and learn about LEED V4.1 and its impact to your design.
LEED V4.1 : What’s New and How It Will Affect Your Design
The green building standard has made significant improvements over the last several years. The previous green features that we thought were good are now considered standard design features for buildings. As a result of that, there are new sustainability metrics coming to the market and the legacy sustainability markets have updated their metric system to showcase leadership in sustainability. The new revised sustainability rating system, LEED v4.1, has been just released by USGBC and will provide a new tool to measure sustainability achievement in buildings. This presentation will discuss the new LEED v4.1 BD+C (Beta) rating system and provide a comparison study with the previous version of LEED v4 BD+C. We will discuss the new building rating system and details regarding the major upgrades in energy and atmosphere credits, highlighting the impact on building design. The new energy performance credit in LEED v4.1 will use two different metrics to measure the building such as cost and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as provide a comparison to the new ASHRAE 90.1 2016 App. G baseline.
1. Describe the current development of sustainability metrics and the possible future improvements for LEED
2. Differentiate sustainability and energy metric measurements between LEED v4.1 BD+C and LEED v4.0 BD+C
3. Understand new Energy and Atmosphere credit requirements in LEED v4.1 BD+C that can affect the building design
4. Apply energy measurement strategies in envelope, lighting and HVAC to be better than LEED v4.1 BD+C baseline.

About the Speaker:
Eddy Santosa has over fifteen years of experience practicing sustainable design in the A/E/C industry and holds a Master of Science in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in Building Science from the National University of Singapore.
Eddy has been involved in establishing sustainable design strategies, energy conservation strategies, and passive design analyses for projects in the US and around the world. His works range from developing master plans and conceptual design strategies for net zero projects to providing project management and energy simulation calculations for LEED certifications. He is a licensed architect in California, CBCP (Certified Building Commissioning Professional) and a LEED AP BD+C, BEMP (Building Energy Modeling Professional). He serves as a USGBC Energy and Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group Member, a BEMwiki Editor at IBPSA US, and USGBC pro reviewer.
His works have been widely published in articles, books, and research journals. He is also a frequent speaker and has spoken at many conferences including Greenbuild, ASHRAE, IBPSA, A4LE, and Autodesk University. His primary interest area is integrated design and the implementation of building performance assessments, especially daylight and energy performance, in the early design stages.
